Our mission is to provide memory making moments for families with an immediate family member that is battling cancer.
Protecting What Matters, a local, 501(c)(3) non-profit, was created in honor of my late husband Paul William Miller. To hear about his story please click on Paul's Story.
Protecting What Matters will give families the opportunity to create and protect their memories. We want to give families a way to create special memories and take their mind off the struggles of fighting cancer even if for just a moment. Our qualifying families will receive our memory making basket which will be filled with items for the family to enjoy. They will have the opportunity to do a variety of activities and record their experiences in a family memory book. This book will act as a guide and place to record the events, add pictures, and notes for the family to always have a reference of their memories and messages to one another. When going through treatment the last thing one thinks about is to write things down.
Our main goal is to help families protect what matters, and that is their love for their family.
We understand that everyone has their own unique battle they face when undergoing cancer treatment and it is no easy task. We also understand caregivers and family members may also face their own set of challenges at this time as well, while providing support and possible care. We know that it is important to bring joy whenever it is possible during a time like this. To fight cancer as a team you need to create opportunities to strengthen your family bond and if you can create and record lasting memories in the process it’s a win-win.
With your support we can help families create joy and memories while undergoing cancer treatment.
